What if I tell you that a someone can solve a problem in 300 seconds that would have taken the world’s most powerful SUPERCOMPUTER 10,000 years. That someone is the Quantum computer. This is exactly what Google claimed in a recent article, acquiring the ever-deemed quantum supremacy. It is the future of technology. It is the future of Humanity. And this is the future of power.

WHAT IS QUANTUM COMPUTER?

In order to understand the true potentials of Quantum computer, it is necessary to understand what they are. They are fundamentally different from traditional computers. Traditional computers work on BITS, the 1s and 0s, that are represented by electrical current or voltage. But a quantum computer makes use of Quantum mechanic’s principles of SUPERPOSITION and ENTANGLEMENT. Quantum computer work on QUBITS (quantum bits).

  Making the things simple and not going into the advance Quantum mechanics. We can say that Quantum computer is highly efficient version of present-day computers. A BIT can either be 1 or a 0 at a given time. contrary the QUBIT can be both at the same time increasing the possibilities and making parallel processing possible.  A 30-qubit quantum computer would equal the processing power of a conventional computer that could run at 10 teraflops (trillions of floating-point operations per second).

Tech giants like Google, IBMMicrosoftIntel and the governments of many countries are pouring tons of money in this research field. This is because a win in this race would give them immense power over the rest of the world.  After the Google’s announcement of achieving Quantum supremacy (beating ordinary computer at a task), the race has gone into the splint phase. With a lot on the stake, humanity is looking towards is next big milestone. According to researchers:

Nature is not based upon 1s and 0s, it is rather made of Quantum particles. Many believe Quantum simulations will be a tremendous life changing application of Quantum computers. Currently pharmaceutical companies are spending Billions on research with trial and error method. Still not knowing what the cure for a specific disease would be.
