Planetary Science

Planetary Science is the study of planets, moons, and other celestial bodies within our solar system and beyond. It encompasses a variety of scientific disciplines, including astronomy, geology, meteorology, and oceanography, to analyze the formation, evolution, and characteristics of these bodies. Planetary scientists investigate the physical and chemical properties of planets, their atmospheres, surfaces, and interiors, as well as their potential for supporting life. The field also includes the study of planetary systems, such as the dynamics and interactions of celestial bodies, as well as the processes that shape them over time. This science often involves both observation via telescopes and spacecraft, as well as computational modeling to simulate planetary processes. Planetary science contributes to our understanding of the cosmos and the solar system’s history, enhancing our knowledge of Earth’s place in the universe.
