NASA

NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is an independent agency of the United States federal government responsible for the nation’s civilian space program and for aeronautics and aerospace research. Established in 1958, NASA conducts space exploration missions, scientific research, and aeronautics innovation to advance human knowledge about space and to develop new technologies related to air travel and space exploration. Its major projects include manned spaceflight programs like the Apollo missions, which landed humans on the Moon, the Space Shuttle program, and the ongoing Artemis program aimed at returning humans to the Moon and eventually sending astronauts to Mars. NASA also operates numerous satellites and space observatories to gather data about the Earth, the solar system, and the universe at large.
